Sailor Moon Wiki:Policies
From Sailor Moon Wiki
The following is a list of policies on Sailor Moon Wiki. As the wiki grows, policies may be moved to their own page.

[edit] What Sailor Moon Wiki is Not
[edit] Sailor Moon Wiki is Not Japanese
Sailor Moon Wiki is not Japanese. Please avoid using out of context Japanese words and notation. Instead of "Rei-chan calls Usagi-chan a baka," we want "Rei calls Usagi an idiot." Using Japanese words is acceptable if:
- You are referring to the title of an episode, manga chapter or Sera-Myu. Refer to the title in English with the original Japanese in brackets.
- A character's title is in Japanese. Refer to the name in English with the original Japanese in brackets. This does not apply to given names, so please do not call Usagi "Bunny (Usagi)" every time. Use this for things like "Kings of the Four Skies (Shitennou)".
- You are referring to Sailor Chibi Moon, Sailor Tin Nyanko, or any other senshi with Japanese in her name.
[edit] Sailor Moon Wiki is Not a Guide to Anime
It's not necessary to make articles on sentai, anime, manga, magical girl or any other such things. When creating an article about something partially SM-related (DiC, Cloverway, Toei, Naoko Takeuchi) please explain them as they are related to Sailor Moon.
[edit] Sailor Moon Wiki is Not the Place to Host Your Fanart
Please do not upload fanart to the Sailor Moon Wiki. Even if it is used in an article, it will be deleted.
[edit] Sailor Moon Wiki is Not a Soapbox
Please keep your opinion out of the article and write as neutrally as you can. Even if Rei is your favourite character or you hate DiC with a burning passion, look at things objectively.
[edit] Naming Conventions
Character and weapon names in the Sailor Moon Wiki should be given as they were intended by Naoko Takeuchi, not phonetically and certainly not misspelt. When in doubt, check Dies Gaudii for the character's name.
For example, instead of Pupuran, we should have an article on Poupelin.
If you're making an article about a specific episode, or about the show itself, or a Sera-Myu, or its manga, or the live-action version, please use the English translation. Sailor Moon Wiki is not Japanese. The only exception to this is "Sera-Myu," as this is what it is generally known by.
The official translation of the show's title is Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. Therefore, the series should always be referred to as:
- "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (anime)"
- "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (manga)"
- "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (live-action)"
In shorthand, just Sailor Moon (always italicized) is fine, but always specify whether you are referring to the manga or anime.
Names of the sailors should be given-name first. (Usagi Tsukino, etc) The last names of Neptune, Uranus and Pluto should be given as Kaiou, Ten'ou and Meiou for consistency.
The senshi should always be referred to as soldiers. This is the term used by most dubs, including, in some places, the English dub and is better understood and more widely used than "guardian." The term "guardian" may be used to describe the "inner soldiers." On a related note, it it's fine to use the terms "inner soldiers" and "outer soldiers" (as these are the most understood terms) as long as you provide the groups' true names in brackets the first time you use them in the article.
- Inner soldiers are called "Soldiers of the Four Guardian Deities."
- Outer soldiers are called "Soldiers of the Outer Solar System."
The "asteroid soldiers" should always be called the "Sailor Quartetto."
The forms of the sailor soldiers in the final manga series (Stars) are unnamed, except for Eternal Sailor Moon. The common fan term is Sailor Star Planet, and this is what the wiki will use for lack of a better name. If anyone can give me any resource at all that names this form, the policy will be changed.
[edit] Manga vs Anime vs Live-Action
Please do not create separate articles for characters that are in two of the three series or all the series. Instead create separate sections in the same article.
If a character appears only in one series, specify which series he or she is in. If one form of a character appears only in one series (such as Princess Sailor Moon or Sailor Luna), please create the section as "Character Name (manga/anime/live-action-only)."
