SERASYMPHONY (also known as "Sailor Moon Symphony") is a fanmade orchestral tribute concert created by BLC3Music Services, LLC featuring image songs and background music from Sailor Moon.[1] Since its debut in 2013, the project has produced live concerts in New York and Los Angeles and released several videos and 2 digital releases.

History

From December 19, 2013 to January 10, 2014, SERASYMPHONY was first presented as a video project by iconiQ The Soundtrack Orchestra featuring the background music from the 1992 anime series; seasons 1 through 5 were performed as stand-alone movements interspersed with clips from the anime.[2] On June 30, 2014, an "omake medley" was published featuring additional music selected by a poll of viewers.[3]

A live concert premiered on October 10, 2014 in New York City at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. It starred conductor Bobbie Lee Crow III, concertmaster Annette Homann, violin soloist Christina Bouey, and piano soloist Yasuhiko Fukuoka (Bouey and Fukuoka also starred in "III. Super" from the original video tribute).[4] Additional music not included in the original tribute was presented and performed by a larger ensemble. The full concert was made available on the official SERASYMPHONY Youtube page on October 28, 2014; it has been viewed over 200,000 times.[5]

Los Angeles Debut

In December 2015, iconiQ The Soundtrack Orchestra announced a Los Angeles concert of SERASYMPHONY.[6] A Kickstarter campaign was successfully funded, raising over $7,500 towards the production of the concert.[7] The Los Angeles concert premiered at The Colburn School on July 5, 2015 and starred the original soloists from New York and special guest vocalist Jennifer Cihi, the original singing voice of the DiC North American English dub.[8] A medley of music from the DiC dub was performed with Cihi and orchestra.
