Manami's mother was picking him up from daycare when she along with toddlers of his daycare were attacked by a Cardian, who absorbed their energy. Manami was protected underneath his mother and while she was in the hospital, recovering from the attack, Manami was put into the care of Mamoru. Usagi would visit and help Mamoru take care of the infant.
- It is a possibility that Manami could have been named after Tohru Furuya's daughter, who had turned one year old the day before the episode aired in Japan.
- In the English dubs, he had a gruff, grown-up mental voice (similar to the 1989 comedy film Look Who's Talking and its sequel Look Who's Talking Too) and a more realistic baby-like voice when he spoke at the end of the episode, unlike in the Japanese episode where both Manami's mental and real voice were childlike.
