Summary[]

Usagi, Ami, Rei, and Luna take a vacation in order to train, but the hotel they are staying at is haunted by a strange phenomenon.

Plot[]

Usagi, Ami, and Rei go to the ocean, although their vacation is intended to be for their training as Sailor Senshi, the girls plan on having a good time. Rei makes a reservation at a seaside house with a private beach. Usagi looks forward to their outing, and imagines that there would be lots of cool guys around here, including Motoki and Tuxedo Mask.

The girls walk for a long time through forest, and Usagi is upset due to Rei not confirming the directions. A thunderstorm breaks out, and Usagi runs away in fear but spots a young girl in a hood. The little girl leads Usagi, Ami, and Rei to a haunting old mansion on a cliff, which happens to be the reservation. They are soon welcomed by a trio of costumed ghouls. The little girl introduces herself as Sakiko. Sakiko's Father, a very tall and intimidating man, informs Sakiko not to play with the girls.

During dinner, the man resembling Frankenstein appears, asking if the girls want more food. Usagi becomes very scared by his appearance, when the werewolf comes with desserts. Asking Rei why she chose to make reservations at a place like this, she remarks that it’s cheap. Ami comments on the delicious food and that she finds the costumes funny. Immediately afterward ghostly activity begins to take place, causing great terror of the three servers. Rei feels a strong supernatural power behind the phenomena but doesn't think it’s a Youma.

The next day, the three go to the beach and entertain themselves. When night approaches, Rei places ofuda around the mansion so she and the others can eat without spiritual intrusions. Ami spots Sakiko by herself outside on the cliff and goes to check on her. Sakiko had watched the three play during the day, feeling secluded. She asks Sakiko if she was lonely, saying she was the same before she met her friends. Ami recommends becoming friends with Usagi to cheer her up, only to be interrupted by Sakiko's father. He drags Sakiko back to the house, and uses hypnosis to draw out her psychic powers. He says he wants to show up the world who shunned and ridiculed them for possessing supernatural power.

Meanwhile, Usagi wanders terrified around the house looking for her friends. She finds the three servers of the house, in the process of a ghostly ceremony. She assumes they are ghosts, but Rei tells her they are just normal people. Rei then tells Usagi of a powerful force being generated.

Ami goes into the room where Sakiko's father attempts to draw out his daughter's abilities, causing a ghost to manifest. It attacks Ami and Sakiko's father while Sakiko is under a hypnotic trance. Rei and Usagi catch sight of the ghost as well, and Rei says they need to transform to help Sakiko's father.

Sailor Mercury tries to wake up Sakiko, and Sailor Moon tries to fight the ghost but is attacked due to her lacking powers. The ghost still attacks Sakiko's father, and even after Sakiko wakes up, the ghost remains. Sakiko goes to her father, who tells her the ghost is now uncontrollable and that she needs to escape, though she refuses. The ghost comes around for another attack, but Sakiko eradicates it with her powers. Sakiko's father then admits he uses the guests for testing Sakiko's powers.

The next day, Sakiko plays with the rest of the girls on the beach. The three servers come, asking Sakiko's father about the ghost, he replies there wouldn't be any more.

Trivia[]

  • This episode was the fourth of six episodes to be left out of the DiC English dub. This is likely because it has no relation to the main storyline. It was included in the Viz redub; however.
  • This is the first episode where the Dark Kingdom is completely absent. The first episode where they do not have anything to do with the events of the episode and the Sailor Senshi do not fight a member of the Dark Kingdom or one of their Youma. This is also the first episode where the season's antagonists do not make an appearance.
  • The spooky house having the name "Adams" on the front sign is likely a reference to The Addams Family.
  • The monsters are likely a reference to The Munsters which is a TV series from the '60s.
  • Usagi wears her swimsuit from episode 16 during which she added bows to it to cover up moth holes.
  • Usagi mentions that they should have invited Naru, despite the fact that Naru was taken to a hospital in the previous episode due to her energy being drained. However, there could have been a time skip in between episodes.
