Gurio Umino is a smart, stereotypical nerd and a classmate of Usagi Tsukino and Naru Osaka. This is the second animated depiction of the original manga character.

Umino met with Usagi and Naru after Usagi failed her exam. He got a ninety-five percent, saying he treats tests like a game. He also informed Usagi's mother about the test, leading her to discover Usagi failed her exam.
Trivia
- In episode 7, when Umino's face was in shadow, it strongly resembled Professor Tomoe's shaded face in the original anime.
