Castor and Pollux are two Youma sent by Nephrite to gather Hiromi Matsuno's energy.

Nomenclature and Etymology[]

Castor and Pollux (or in Greek, Polydeukes) were twin half-brothers in Greek and Roman mythology.

In Latin, the twin half-brothers are also known as the Gemini (literally "twins").

This is why Nephrite consulted the Gemini constellation.

Appearance[]

Castor and Pollux wear almost identical outfits apart from a few minor differences. Castor has red skin and brown-grey hair, the main colour of her outfit is a dark pink and she wears a lighter pink skirt. Pollux has lilac skin and grey hair, her outfits main colour is dark teal with a lighter green skirt. Both Youma wear a short top with a triangle slit on the chest, knickers, a short half skirt, one glove, an armband, necklace and a single sock going up to the thigh. Both Youma have a long tail that is connected to the other when they work together and have a white bow, belt and shoulder pads. The side that they wear their glove, sock and the way round of the triangles that they wear are opposite for each Youma.

Information[]

While disguised as Masato Sanjoin, Nephrite implanted via his evil crest Castor and Pollux inside the stub of an animator's pencil belonging to Hiromi Matsuno, thereby obnoxiously competing against her friend Kazuko Tadashita as she perfects her animations of Sailor V. Once Hiromi reaches her productive peak, Castor and Pollux immediately emerge from the pencil and drain all of the girl's energy, and Kazuko Tadashita, Rei Hino, Ami Mizuno and Usagi Tsukino arrive to the scene. Kazuko faints, and the girls take the opportunity to transform and challenge the Youma.

Given that Castor and Pollux are bound together by a strong friendship, this gave Nephrite the illusion that this bond would provide them with the power that is "several levels greater than the Sailor Senshi". These Youma demonstrate this power by using the yellow ribbon that they are bound from, as a symbol of their friendship, teamwork and resolve. Whilst the Youma are bound by this ribbon, they are both unstoppable and powerful; as they immediately engage in battle. The Youma Castor first mimics Sailor Mars' Fire Soul attack, followed by the Youma Pollux who mimics Sailor Mercury's SabĆ£o Spray attack. As both these mimicked attacks are aimed towards the Senshi, the trio are confused by the ease in which their attacks were mimicked by the Youma and used against them. Both Castor and Pollux would have actually defeated the Senshi, had it not been for their bickering over who gets to finish off their opponents. The ferocity of their bickering was such, that not only did they forget about the presence of their adversaries, they also terminated their friendship, thus causing their tails, which had previously been tied together, to break apart, as they had no Sailor Moon-like leader to silence their bickering and keep them in line. The distraction created from their bickering, gave the Senshi the opportunity to mount a counterattack by pooling their attacks into one into one. Unfortunately for Castor and Pollux, they realized too late that they should have valued their friendship more. Because of their petty squabbling, they are instantly destroyed and the lost energy of Hiromi Matsuno is returned to her. Hiromi Matsuno takes the opportunity to apologize to Kazuko Tadashita for her behavior and together they rekindle their friendship, whilst Nephrite plots his next move for underestimating Sailor Moon and her associates.

Powers[]

They claimed to have an indestructible friendship (which was shown as their tails being bound together) and demonstrated the ability to replicate Shabon Spray and Fire Soul.
