"Chibiusa's Picture Diary Chapter 1 - Beware of the Transfer Student!" is the 1st chapter of the "Chibiusa's Picture Diary" series of short stories from the manga. It was written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi.
Summary[]
During Chibiusa's first days at Elementary School she meets new friends, Momo and Kyuuske, but she thinks there is something off about the transfer student, Lilica. She and her friends visit Lilica's house and discover she is a vampire before they are saved by Sailor Moon and Sailor V.
Plot[]
This short story takes place when Chibiusa starts attending Juban Public Elementary School near the start of the Black Moon arc. Specifically, during Act 15 after Chibiusa starts living at Usagi's home but before the school festival when Rei gets abducted.
It opens with Chibiusa introducing herself to her class with her proper name "Usagi Tsukino". The class laughs at her for her name and strange hair but Momoko is welcoming towards her. Kyusuke insults Chibiusa, calling her a big head and a runt but Momoko quickly defends her, telling Kyusuke to be more kind. Chibiusa then notices Kyusuke is wearing a Sailor V badge which he tells her his big sister made for him. Kyusuke offers that if she does what he says he'll think of letting her wear it but Chibiusa declines scathingly, taking him down a notch.
Momoko then asks Chibiusa what they should call her with Kyusuke mentioning that he knows of someone called Usagi Tsukino already, remarking that it's weird there are two of them. Chibiusa shyly remarks that her friends call her Chibiusa but doesn't want them to think she's a runt. Momoko and the other girls actually find her name cute, relieving Chibiusa. Her attention is then drawn to another girl across the classroom with Momoko stating that she recently transferred there recently too and is called Lilica Hubert. Gurio Sorano pops in, telling them that she is the daughter of the ambassador of county U - soon after introducing himself. Lirica sways in place, someone asking if she is alright and she states that she is feeling dizzy and asks if he can walk her home. He eagerly obliges, the two leaving school early with Momoko annoyed at how boys are always only interesting in beautiful girls.
In the evening, Chibiusa returns home and Ikuko asks how it went. Usagi is shocked that she sent Chibiusa to school but her mother remarks that school is compulsory. Usagi is further angered that Chibiusa used her name at school. She is quickly distracted as Chibiusa pulls out a picture diary stating that her teacher told everyone in class to make one. Chibiusa draws Momoko and Kyuusuke, remarking on how both their families have restaurants and that Kyuusuke was wearing a Sailor V badge. Kenji notices Chibiusa's drawing of Lilica, noting how beautiful she is as well as Chibiusa's drawing skills. The family is surprised people from country U are there and staying at the seemingly abandoned embassy.
The next day at school Chibiusa's teacher asks if anyone has seen Ishihara, the boy who went home with Lilica the day before. Lilica smiles, stating she has no idea what could have happened. She catches Chibiusa's eye as she ponders the situation. Chibiusa and Momoko later visit the school gardens with Momoko explaining that the flowers keep drying up despite her best efforts. Lilica appears from nowhere and pokes Chibiusa's cheeks, stating that they are plump and tasty looking making both Chibiusa and Momoko scared. Chibiusa later spots her leaving with another boy.
The day after, two boys gossip that Kuwano, the boy who left with Lilica, never returned home with the two of them shivering as they spot Lilica. During lunch, Chibiusa and Kyuusuke are on lunch duty, serving out food to their fellow students. Chibiusa's teacher asks if everyone is present but a boy states that Lilica is absent. Another girl mentions that she just saw her and must've run off. Their teacher asks Chibiusa and Kyuusuke to look for her and they soon find her in the garden eating flowers.
When Chibiusa returns home and explains the situation to the others, Makoto comes to the conclusion that she must be a vampire. Ami then explains vampires and how they have a fondness for flowers. Makoto adds that the embassy is sometimes called the 'Hell House' and that screams can be heard from there at night. She quickly changes the subject, asking if everyone wants to go to her home for dinner.On the way, she explains that vampires hate garlic so she'll add plenty to the dinner to see what happens the next day. Minako and Rei chime in, explaining more about vampires and how to kill them.
The next day, Chibiusa explains to her teacher that Lilica is absent with her teacher rather taken aback by the stench of garlic on her breath. She asks her and Momoko to take their school assignments to Lilica's house. Momoko mentions that she's a bit scared but Kyuusuke quickly states that he'll join then, roping Sorano along too. The four of them arrive at the embassy, noticing that the garden is full of flowers and graves. A hand touches Chibiusa's shoulder and she screams but it is simply revealed to be Lilica's mother. She tells them that Lilica cannot see them but offers them in for tea though not after reacting strongly to Chibiusa's breath.
Inside, she laughs off the kids remarks, stating that the boys must be playing hooky and are probably heading home already and that the flowers Lilica was eating are simply sugar flowers, offering some for them to eat. At the Tsukino household, Usagi and Minako are playing games and Ikuko asks them to look for Chibiusa and bring her home. Chibiusa, Kyuusuke and Sorano leave the embassy but quickly realise they left Momoko behind. Returning to the house, Chibiusa searches for Lilica's mother but finds her sucking Momoko's blood. Lilica arises from a coffin, joining her mother and the missing boys in chasing the three of them down. Usagi and Minako notice the struggle and Kyuusuke begs for Sailor V to help them - with Usagi a little disappointed Sailor Moon was forgotten. Lilica rushes at Chibiusa, stating how she always wanted to drink her blood. Sailor V uses Crescent Boomerang against them, stopping the vampires in their tracks and introduces herself alongside Sailor Moon. They perform Double Sailor Kick on Lilica's mother and Chibiusa uses Garlic Attack on Lilica to protect Kyuusuke and Sorano. Sailor Moon then uses Moon Princess Halation on Lilica and her mother, turning Lilica into a flower. Chibiusa grabs the flower but it fades away and both Sailor Moon and Sailor V have disappeared.
The next day, Momoko is disappointed that Lilica apparently transferred without saying goodbye. Kyuusuke approaches Chibiusa who is at first annoyed by him but he soon gives her a Sailor Moon badge his sister made, perking her up.

Trivia[]
- A special episode of SuperS: "Chibiusa's Adventure: The Vampire Mansion of Terror" is based on this short story.
- Chibiusa imagines a Sailor Guardian version of herself "Sailor Chibi Usa Moon" who has a cape among the differences from the true form she would later take.
- This is Sailor V's first full appearance in the Sailor Moon manga despite being shown rather often. Her earlier showings were either as in-universe promotional art, ads, images, newspapers, flashbacks, and in the videogame. Before this when in the flesh Minako would transform into Sailor Venus - not her original form.
- Makoto eats a chocolate cigarette during the story, this may be a reference to how she was originally meant to smoke
