Summary[]

Mamoru begins to experience bizarre visions, which prompt him to break up with Usagi. Meanwhile, Berthier begins to spread Dark Power via a cosmetics store.

Plot[]

One early morning Usagi is running and Mamoru meets up with her while on his morning jog. They talk for just a bit before Luna interrupts and Usagi tells Mamoru that Chibiusa is missing. The three of them head off to find her and end up at a playground where Chibiusa is sitting on a swing. She's sad and mentions her parents and Mamoru offers to take her home, upon their hands touching he has a vision of a crystal city.

On their way home Usagi wants Chibiusa to stop clinging to Mamoru so hard before he's her boyfriend and they share a deep love bond, but Chibiusa refuses and asks for everyone to stop calling her "Chibiusa". The two continue to argue while they walk and Usagi assumes Mamoru likes Chibiusa more and walks ahead of them, suggesting that he marry her.

Once they reach home the rest of the Tsukino family makes a big deal about Chibiusa going missing and then realize they've never met Mamoru before. Usagi introduces him as a friend, but Shingo refers to him as Usagi's boyfriend and her father becomes enraged and Mamoru quickly leaves. Kenji begins to cry about Usagi being a delinquent while her mother suggests she bring Mamoru around sometime when her father is working.

Chibiusa then speaks up about being hungry, but the Tsukino family realizes they have no idea who she is. Chibiusa becomes worried but quickly uses Luna-P to transform into a spiral umbrella which she uses to hypnotize the family members. Luna realizes what is happening and bites Usagi to snap her out of the trance. Usagi yells at Chibiusa but her family chides her again for being so mean.

Berthier appears on the UFO to speak to Rubeus, who tells her that even if they can't find the Rabbit, they can find the Crystal Points and infuse them with their power to prevent Crystal Tokyo from being built.

As Mamoru walks down the street, he has a sudden vision of the crystal city and-Princess Serenity amidst great destruction. He staggers to a halt and grabs the wall for support. Usagi sees him as she walks home from school and runs up to give him a hug, but he pushes her away. He gets annoyed and tells her that he doesn't love her anymore and their relationship is over.

Later at Hikawa Shrine Usagi is sitting with the other girls who are trying to comfort her and provide her with an explanation for Mamoru's actions.

In Mamoru's apartment he is helping Chibiusa with her homework when the bell rings. He lets Usagi in and she apologizes for earlier, not realizing he was in a bad mood and promises to study harder, as Ami suggested that was his reason for saying he didn't love her. Mamoru tells her again he doesn't love her and wants to end their relationship. Usagi refuses to accept this because of their fate together and Mamoru yells at her saying he shouldn't have to love her just because they were together in a previous life. He suddenly stops seeing how sad Usagi really is.

Usagi sees Chibiusa's shoes in the doorway and wonders again if he really does like her more. He tells her she's wrong and Usagi apologizes for forcing him to be with her and leaves. Usagi walks along the street slowly before entering a phone booth where she collapses and cries. Apologizing to her mom because she won't be able to bring Mamoru home.

Elsewhere, Berthier takes over Otafukuya and sets her Droid, Atsugessho, in charge of selling her special cosmetics. After that she stands above the city and releases a stack of flyers over the city and one lands beside Usagi's phone booth.

Usagi arrives at the store with the flyer in hand, and Luna happens to be wandering by and sees her go inside. Usagi asked the clerk if Mamo will love her if she uses some of the products to which the clerk agrees and begins to name off things she needs to use. Usagi believes that using make-up won't be enough, but the clerk doesn't listen and suggests all men are the same to which Usagi becomes upset and they begin to argue. During their dispute all the other customers in the store leave and the clerk becomes upset and reveals her true form as a Droid.

Luna attacks the Droid and gives Usagi a chance to break from her hold and transform into Sailor Moon. The Droid attacks Sailor Moon with a stream of liquid from her mouth that melts whatever it comes in contact with. Sailor Moon runs from her in the store and slides on a container of make-up and Luna attacks again, but is smashed against the wall with a powder brush. Atsugessho moves in to attack again but is stopped by Tuxedo Mask, she then attacks but the attack is deflected by his cane and seems to wipe off her face. While she is distracted Sailor Moon uses her Moon Princess Halation to destroy the Droid.

Tuxedo Mask heads off to leave, but Sailor Moon stops him and says that she knows he wasn't telling the truth, because he came to save her. He tells her that the two don't have anything to do with each other and when she asks why he doesn't love her, he responds by saying he cannot love a weak girl. He walks away from the now crying girl and again silently apologizes to her as he goes.

Luna comes up and tells Sailor Moon that she found the store clerks unconscious in the basement, and asks for her help, but Sailor Moon isn't listening. She stares after Tuxedo Mask and swears to become stronger and win his heart back again.

Changes[]

Changes From the Manga[]

  • Mamoru never breaks up with Usagi.
  • He never has any vision of destruction involving Princess Serenity.
  • Chibiusa doesn't need to hypnotize Usagi's family a second time.
    • The sequence of Usagi and Mamoru finding Chibiusa on a swing, Mamoru having a vision of the future when touching her, the pair taking her to Usagi's home, her hypnotizing Usagi's family with Luna-P, and Luna saving Usagi (and Mamoru in the manga) from being hypnotized occurred immediately after Chibiusa's arrival in the present.

Dub Changes[]

  • The scene with Usagi walking down the street is cut from the DiC English dub and instead goes straight to Usagi going into the telephone box.
  • The scene where Berthier takes over Otafukuya is altered to remove the sounds of the store's real employees screaming offscreen (likely while being attacked), presumably due to concerns about violence.
